Rental cars is one of the most important aspects of the trip. Each airport has a variety of different car rental companies for you to choose from. It is very important to make sure that your car rental insurance includes all the components needed, because there is no deductible in case of damage or theft.
whether you choose to stay in a village or a hotel, it is important that you choose those located in the southern part of the lake, a location that will allow you faster access to the large selection of parks as well as the A4 freeway to reach out-of-lake destinations such as Venice, Borghetto, Verona, Padua and Milan.

lake Garda is surrounded by hundreds of food businesses, restaurants, bars, pizzerias and more, with a large variety of supplies and prices. If you stay in an apartment during your visit you will have an equipped kitchen where you can make or cook meals and save some $$, there are plenty of supermarkets with fresh Italian produce. You can easily make sandwiches for the whole day and save on expenses.
Of course hotel stays include breakfast, and in most of them there are onsite restaurants for additional meals. It is not advisable to commit in advance and pay for half board since you might miss out on a wide variety of amazing restaurants and eateries around the lake.
If your flight back to your home country is a late night flight make sure you are able to check out late from the village or hotel you are staying at on the last day of your trip – it will make your life much easier.
Do not miss out the wandering market that is located every morning in a different town along the lake. These markets provide a variety of quality Italian goods, especially recommended are the market days in Bardolino, Lizza and Desenzano which take place on the lakeside promenade and combine pastoral shopping with amazing lake views.
It is also highly recommended to make time (open until 22:00) and drive to Franciacorta Outlet Village which is about half an hour away from the lake and enjoy a selection of great shops with affordable prices.
